Andy Mac (left) triumphed after a flawless display while 18-year-old Garrett Reynolds from USA won the BMX Park title in his first foray into Kia X-Games Asia.

There was also action happening all around the ground - the Moto X competitions, which are also a three-day event, continued to wow crowds with their death-defying big-air jumps.

Skateboard Vert Finals

Defending champion and crowd favourite Andy Macdonald brought the house down with another gigantic performance to win the Skateboard Vert Finals. While his win was not a surprise, unheralded Josh Stafford stole into second place. The American, who is from San Diego, California the place where Macdonald is also from, was placed fourth in the preliminary round but came out firing in the final round. Renton Millar from Australia came in third.

BMX Park Finals

Garrett Reynolds rode his way to the BMX Park title as his free-flowing style won not only over the judges but also the crowd as well. His fearless style and grinning face caught the imagination of the supporters at the KIC Jiangwan Centre. Reynolds pipped Sergio Layos for second and Chris O’Donnell snatched third place from Kiattichai Wanitsakul by a difference of only 0.34 points. The Thai paid the price for a heavy fall during his second run.

Men Speed Finals

Indonesia again dominated the Climbing events and showed the crowd their strength in depth. Two Indonesians made it into the top three including Abu Dzar Yulianto who beat Alexsandr Nigmatulin to the Men’s Speed title. Galar Pandu Asmoro came in third. In last year KIA X Games Asia, Yulianto made his debut in Shanghai and finished only fifth. This time he was very happy to take the title and attributed his win to training with his teammate and friend Asmoro.

“I train five times a week and I train with my friend Asmoro. If I make a mistake, he will point out to me. We help each other improve,” said the 25-year-old Indonesian.
