Eugene Han: Congratulations on winning the Skateboard Vert title again Andy Mac. You have been skating since the 80s and have been one of skateboarding's greatest spokespeople. Can you tell us why you want to do this?

Andy Mac: I just wanna tell my story about my aspiring life as a skater and tell the kids it’s not just skateboarding, you can be anything you want to be. And it feels great to do it. Skateboarding has given me everything I have in my life. If I have a chance to give back to the community through skateboarding, I will do it.

EH: What about yourself? What inspires you to be where you are today?

Andy Mac: It used to be just for the fun of skating and it continues to be some of that but it gets to a certain point that you want to get better, not necessary better against other people in competition, but for yourself. You want to know how where your limits are and how far you can go. You want to push those limits and see how far you can take it.

EH: Even at 34 year of age, you think there room for improvement?

Andy Mac: Yeah. There are things I can do now at 34 that I feel like I am skating better than I have ever skated. So all those years of experience under my belt and there are things I can do now, I never was able to do. There are a lot of things we can do with the skateboard and look ‘wow, I didn’t know someone could do that?’ Yeah and now I’m doing it. I didn’t know someone could do that. So here I am doing it.

There’s always the fascination and excitement of setting those goals, going beyond those goals and always pushing your limits.
